The path
He grew up in a home where Turkish, Croatian, and Albanian shared the table — an early education in how cultures braid. A Zenit-E camera arrived as a fifteenth-birthday gift and became both escape and record.
London Film School and the New York School of Visual Arts shaped the craft. From 1985 to 1989 he worked under Richard Avedon: studio discipline, hard contrast, portrait depth. Editorial years followed for fashion and lifestyle titles — American minimalism fused with Balkan melancholy.
Later practice moved between studio portraiture, editorial fashion, and documentary work in industrial locations and shipyards — dramatic natural light instead of polite studio glow. The 1996 personal project Fragments of Home braided couture aesthetics with the gravity of displacement.
